An Empty Cup For Now

T for Tuesday ... with an empty cup?!
Empty Mug
I just finished my oatmeal breakfast and really didn't feel like drinking anything right away. So decided to share one of my non-white mugs. My daughter enjoys using these non-whites because they are pretty big so she can have these huge mugs of hot chocolate. I must have bought this at the company store 3 years ago. I thought it was really pretty ... all black and smooth with just the company name and logo. Very simple!  Why did I buy it? I have no use for yet another mug especially since I was trying to get rid of all those mis-matched mugs.
A friend once told me that a lot of the things we bought were to fill the void we got from the rush and lack of time in our daily lives. Never really thought of it that way. But I know it's true for me. It was so bad that a couple of times I had bought the same thing twice because I had forgotten that I had already bought it. Now every time I pick something up, my friend's saying rings in my head. Can't say I have stopped doing that totally but certainly have stopped a lot more of those useless purchases for me.
Well at least this mug was "free" because this was bought with points. Points were given usually after completing a major milestone or some special accomplishment.
But on to a different subject ... I love spring and I hate spring! I love it because everything is blooming. I hate spring because all that blooming triggered my allergy and it's been really bad! I take allergy medicine only when I can't hold out any longer because it just put me to sleep. But even with the allergy, I can't help but went and cut some of the flowers in the back yard. I don't have much of a green thumb but I love bulbs. I've got snow drops, freesia, the ones in the photos below and others that will bloom later in the summer.  They are so easy to grow and they come back each year with hardly any work. My kind of gardening!

After so many years of them coming back and dividing, there are enough for me and the bees and humming birds to share in the house and in the yard.
Happy T-day everyone at Elizabeth's T party!

  2. Wow, you have much better luck with YOUR bulbs than I have with mine. I planted crocuses about six years ago and, although the leaves appear, I've never had them flower. Some years I have good luck with the tulips, other years, not so much. Yours are beautiful, though.

"Company store." Does that mean you work at Boeing? Guess you know, I live in the air capital of the world, even though Boeing sold most of its holdings here in Wichita a couple (or more) years ago right around the time the union decided to strike. That's a pretty mug, though.

Thanks for sharing all these beautiful flowers today. It was fun to see what's growing out west right now!

    1. Thanks flowers make me happy. Oh I don't have any tulips. Not sure why I've never try them.
Yes I did. We didn't use to share the same mother company, did we?

  5. Your flowers are stunning...
I would be over the moon to have such a selection
    and to grow Freesia...
I carried some in my wedding bouquet and adore the fragrance...
Spring is a blessing and a curse with allergies which are no fun at all...
hope you can find your comfort zone!
    Lovely sketches too...
    Happy T Day to you

  9. Gorgeous flowers there Miriam, just a shame you have issues with them. Have you tried buying local honey and taking a teaspoon a day to help you tolerate the plants? A friend has a jar of honey from us every year for her Hubby. It appears to work!
Off to make my hot chocolate now.
    Happy T Day

    1. Thanks Hettie. No I have not tried that. I've heard how honey is really good for you but never heard that it helps allergy. I should give it a try.

  10. such beautiful flowers...feeling a bit envious. we are supposed to get more snow in Ohio this week. very insightful friend you have there...I am thinking that's quite profound actually...that we buy stuff to fill a void. Maybe if I remember that it will help me keep from buying more vintage glass! happy T day!

  12. What beautiful flowers. It's a shame you have hayfever -i imagine it must really put a dampener on an otherwise lovely season for you. Your friend's saying resonates with me-I've developed a bit of an Online shopping habit since we moved to such a remote place and I really need to stop bidding on things on ebay that I don't actually need!!
