Making Marks on T-Day

Let me grab my muffin and coffee and join Elizabeth's T for Tuesday group. Notice?! Only half a muffin! Those suckers from Costco are huge. The mug was from the last project I supported. A group of us were working in Phoenix AZ for that. That was a life time ago but it was good times!

Back to present ... continuing with week2 of the design class. Last week and this week is really about observation, deconstructing patterns and letting loose and making marks. I am going to blame the past life that has made loosing up the hardest part for me. Lol ... Here's what I have so far.

Mark Making 1

Mark Making 2
I like some of the marks in the Mark Making 2 and this was a bit looser than the first one. This page was made with water color. I like the marks made with a dryer brush. The first half of the first page was with crayons and color pencil.
It is interesting (and a relief) that a lot of the classmates feel the same way about loosing up and just make marks. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging that it's been less scary to share what I have done.

Ok off to visit others at Elizabeth's T-party and maybe also play around with these scanned images as well.

  1. Loosening up is always the hard part. It takes time for you to get familiar with making marks, and when you are, then they will just become looser by themselves, but these look great to me.

  3. We get the Costco muffins occasionally, too, and I agree they are huge! But good! Good brush/mark exercises--one think I can never do is "loosen up" my strokes. Might be a good idea for me to try this!Happy T Day!

    1. I only did 2 pages and I can see the difference between the 2. I guess it must be true that the more you do, the easier it will get.

  4. I love mark-making! drawing is probably my favorite thing...haven't tried it digitally though. Yours are way cool...and you are right about the 'loosening up' part. sometimes it is the hardest. Thanks for stopping by my blogs...have a great day!

    1. Thanks Ariel. : ) Not mark making specifically. It's a surface pattern design class (see my post from a couple of days ago) and the mark making is a "loosening up" exercise.

  6. I'm sorry I was late getting here, but I'm So glad you are enjoying the class. It's always good when others are supportive and feel basically the same as you.

We don't have a Costco, but Sam's (the founder of Wally World) is the same concept, and their muffins are HUGE, too. I always get some for my birthday. Thanks for sharing your coffee and doodles this week for T.

    1. Ah ... it's never too late to visit.
We have both Sam's club and Costco here. But we just go to Costco because it's closer.

  7. First of all, thanks for sharing your drawings :) they are wonderful! I love leaf sketches and the bottom part of the markings 1 is my favourite, but the markings 2 are really great too :)
Those muffins are huge aren't they :) I used to slice them for the kids! They're like a loaf!
